Daughters of the King

We Are All Daughters!

The Order of the Daughters of the King® (DOK) is an organization for women who are members of the Episcopal Church or several other related denominations. There are currently members in Anglican, Episcopal, Lutheran (ECLA) and Roman Catholic churches. The Mission of The Order is the extension of Christ’s Kingdom through Prayer, Service and Evangelism. The women of St. James the Fisherman are all daughters of the King, though not all are members of the Order. Those who are members have committed to a Rule of Life, incorporating prayer and service.

From a member: “Part of the vow we make as Daughters is to pray and to study. In addition to daily personal prayer, we all pray together each month.  We pray to listen to God’s call, and to answer the call with courage.  Our study is varied. We may choose classic or current Christian literature to study as a group. A program that causes us to think about God’s world may be substituted for “book” study. Service for us involves several ongoing outreach programs as well as planning and hosting a Quiet Day for the whole parish.”

If you are interested in learning more about the Daughters, you may look for women wearing the DOK cross, or ask the Administrative Assistant to contact the current President.  Feel free to ask us, “Who are you?”  “What do you do?” “How did you know you were called to join this order of women?”  We welcome you and would be glad to answer your questions.
